The Winter GBM is the first event of the winter quarter and attendance is required for all mentors and mentees. We will discuss upcoming events, scholarship opportunities, and dates/deadlines for the remainder of the academic year as well as hear research talks from our new cohort of BRAP Scholars!

Medical School Application Workshop

This professional development workshop mentees interested in medical school, providing the opportunity to learn more about the medical school application requirements and process. Mentees will get to learn from current and former medical students as they share their experiences and advice.

End of Year Tie-Dye Social
BUMMP members celebrate the end of the school year by making tie-dye BUMMP t-shirts over food and good conversation!
BUMMP Annual Student Symposium
Mentors and mentees showcase their research and celebrate a successful year with BUMMP. Attendees practice communicating science, network at the opportunities fair, and hear the inspiring story of our keynote speaker.
Med School Application Workshop
Medical school-bound mentees learned about the medical school application requirements and process from current medical students who shared their experiences and gave encouraging advice.
Holiday Social
Our socials allow members to come together and take a break from studying. Attendees cozied up around the (virtual) fireplace, got crafty with cards for hospitalized children and ornaments, and sipped on hot chocolate.
Research Blitz
Mentors whose labs are actively recruiting undergraduates presented their research and to many mentees who are seeking research experiences at UC San Diego. Many mentees found lab positions through this event!
Personal Statement Writing Workshop
Mentees learn tips and tricks for writing an impactful personal statement, and the opportunity to receive feedback from mentors on their personal statements for graduate school and many other applications.
Welcome Lunch
At the annual Welcome Lunch, mentors and mentees eat lunch and meet their mentorship pairings and BUMMP pods - welcoming in a new year with BUMMP!
Mentorship Trainings
Mentorship training sessions for all new and returning mentors and mentees. In these sessions, we introduce our mission, how to foster a culturally responsive mentorship, and member responsibilities/expectations.
